Scrolls

My work with the copy machine developed into the creation of this series of Scrolls or Chakra Man and Woman. I was working with a printmaking house in Kensington and they gave me access to their large copy machine after hours. I created the series laying sections of my naked body in turn on the machine. I also persuaded my partner, Nik Douglas, to do the same. I then put the body sections together to make the basis of my versions of the Chakra Man Tantric paintings that impressed me so much.

I used some of the original xerox mono prints in a number of the pieces. I also made silkscreens from a few of them and printed them – sometimes as the final artwork, usually adding collage elements. Within the series, a number employ Tantric symbolism, others gnostic and alchemical, while there are those that celebrate the sensuality of fruits and flowers. I saw them as imprints of slices of my being.
